The methodology.
- We request the URL without auto-following redirects, record each hop's status and Location header, then follow it, up to 10 hops.
- The chain is checked for 302/307 temporaries, loops, mixed permanent/temporary hops, over-long chains, and http→https upgrades.

Why does a 302 vs 301 matter for SEO?+
A 301 is permanent and passes ranking signals to the new URL; a 302 (or 307) is temporary and tells search engines to keep the old URL indexed. Using a 302 for a permanent move can strand your rankings on a page you've abandoned.
